Christmas is a time to remember absent friends, so today we find ourselves in the region of Extremadura and the small town of Almendralejo. Still not mean a great deal? Almendralejo was the home town of CF Extremadura who managed to reach La Primera for a couple of seasons in the late 1990's. The last of those seasons was under the tutelage of Rafa Benitez, before the club started a slow and painful decline, eventually folding in August 2010. There home stadium, the Estadio Francisco de la Hera, had a capacity of nearly 12,000 and is now used by UD Extremadura for their matches in Group XIV of the Tercera division. Here it is looking suitably festive with a dusting of snow.
