Real Zaragoza B completed a club double of Houdini-esque escapes with a comfortable victory in their relegation play-off against UB Conquense. Apparently dead in the water in the middle of March, Zaragoza's youngsters strung together a remarkable run of results that aped that of their first team counterparts. 10 of the last 12 fixtures resulted in wins for Los Blanquillos, which included both home and away legs of the play-offs. Goals from Jorge (23´) and Carreño (34´) effectively ended the tie in the first half and a late strike from Montero sealed a 0-3 victory. So after five seasons in Segunda B, UB Conquense fall back into the Tercera. This will come as a huge disappointment to the team from Cuenca, who along with the local municipality, practically rebuilt their La Fuensanta stadium during the summer of 2011.
Also relegated at the weekend were Lorca Atlético, who failed to overturn a 0-2 deficit from their first leg with Palencia. The second leg was in the balance following Campillo's penalty for Lorca on the stroke of half-time, and despite end-to-end action in the second half, no further goals were scored until five minutes into injury-time. However, instead of salvation for Lorca, it was Palencia who secured safety with Jonathan Carril's breakaway goal 5 minutes into injury time. Lorca Atlético drop into Group XIII of the Tercera, but with local rivals La Hoya Deportiva still in the play-offs for promotion to Segunda B and given the town's chequered history in professional football, there will be question marks over the club's future.
