Día de Todos Los Santos - All Saints Day

For a slightly different take, well a very different take on All Saints Day, here are some more fabulous aerial shots of stadiums that have been named after saints! I mean, it's an obvious topic really... Isn't it? Anyhow, first up is San Lazaro in Santiago de Compostela, home to a troubled SD Compostela who played in La Primera as recently as 1998, but now reside in the Galician regional leagues. Top right is the Estadio Santa Ana, home of Utebo FC a small club from the suburbs of Zaragoza, who have played in the Tercera for the past 18 years, after a single season in Segunda B in 1993-94. Bottom left is the Estadio Santo Domingo which was completely rebuilt in 2001 when the resident club, Polideportivo Ejido reached La Segunda. After a run of seven seasons in the second tier, Poli Ejido dropped to Segunda B a few years back and went bust in January 2012. Finally it's the familiar sight of Athletic Club de Bilbao's San Mamés stadium. This picture from 2010 shows the land behind the famous arch being prepared for the San Mamés Barria, a new 55,000 seat stadium that is due to open in 2013. Now be good and don't forget to say your prayers.
